He has to present a faultless righteousness before the Father that is not in himself, but in Jesus alone, at the right hand of the Fathe in heaven.  Man cannot be justified, or declared righteous, unless he possess a faultless righteousness. 

The only hope for man is the "righteousness of faith" which is in God alone, and it is the "righteousness of God" in heaven, not on earth where it can be polluted by sin. It is divine and spotless, in Jesus alone, possessed by those that know God as presented in scripture alone, by faith alone, given to sinful man by the merciful, gracious kindness of the Father alone in heaven. It is imputed by God the Father to those that He chooses.

Hebrews 7:
20] And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest:
[21] (For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec
[22] By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.
[23] And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:
[24] But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.
[25] Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
[26] For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
[27] Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

Satan was a deceiver and a liar from the beginning.
John.8

Satan shall be revealed before the coming of the Jesus the second time.

He exalts himself above God and will deceive many by lying signs and wonders.
2Thes.2
[1] Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
[2] That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

What did Satan tell Adam and Even in the Garden of Eden?
Genesis 3:
[1] Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
[2] And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
[3] But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
[4] And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
[5] For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

Satan told Adam and Eve that they would live forever, that they would not die, they would be as Gods.   He did not apear as a hideous beast to look upon, he appeared as a subtil (cunning) serpent, as the scriptures say:

Genesis 3:
[1] Now the serpent was more subil than any beast of the field.
So Satan never appears as Himself, an evil spirit, that wants to destroy by deception God and all God's people that serve Him in Jesus.

Rev.12
[9] And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

So today he will be just as subtil, and cunning, as the scriptures state! He will appear as "righteous" and so will his ministers, deceiving all that names are not written in the book of life.

Revelation 13:
[8] And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
